Dream Awake by THE FRAMES

I used to watch Life, the TV show with Damian Lewis — who, btw, seems to be a pretty decent guy —, and in an odd way, I identified a lot with the main character, Charlie Crews. Eating vegetables all day, listening to Zen tapes in your car and being a millionaire somehow spoke to me, hahahaha.

Seriously, this is a great TV show, a little old-school compared to all these super succesfull shows these days, but definitely enjoyable. This song is from the Life soundtrack … Dream Awake by The Frames.

This must be how… by Owls

———-

Sometimes you like the idea of something more than the actual thing. It happens to me with all the bands related with Joan Of Arc and the Kinsella family Even I don´t consider myself a fan or anything and I don´t listen to them very often I really like very much that people like the Kinsella brothers are still going strong, keep on keeping on, releasing crazy, witty records with too clever for their own good lyrics and rad song titles (my fav would be “tempting as a chaman” from the make believe ep!), touring more or less the same kind of venues as they used to do when they started with Cap n´Jazz more than 20 years ago..

Owls, are a basically the same dudes as in Joan Of Arc and Make believe, plus Victor Villareal, what makes it a de facto reunion of Cap n´Jazz, with a different name and making a totally different music. This is their second album after 13 years and it´s a strong contender for my favourite record of the year so far.

I listened this song for the first time in a house party I was invited a few weeks ago. Although I was pretty drunk at that time of the night, after drinking a few bottles of red wine with my friends, I managed to notice it was a really good song and even I wobbled to the computer to check the name of the band and remembered it the day after! Nice! I have listened a handful of times since then while I was sober and I am still thinking is a very good tune, epic as fuck, sad and uplifting at the same time. The lyrics are beautiful and touching too. Enjoy!

In this case, “kill my new neighbor”…

How much stress can she create in my life? I will take my revenge someday. Waiting to the tragedy to come, I have started to search a new apartment with my girlfriend :)

Have a nice week!

Right down the line by Gerry Rafferty

The best song you are going to listen today, trust me in this one. An underated and forgotten classic record, at least by me because I keep forgetting about it and keep coming back to it every now and then. Perfect sunday music(it´s bank holiday over here). nobody does albums like this one anymore. Sadly.

Don´t know if you have noticed but i feel like I am 200 years old these days ;)

Glory and gore by LORDE

“I don´t make the mistake that high culture mongers do of assuming that because people like cheap art, their feeling are cheap, too. When people say, `Oh, listen, they´re playing our song´ they don´t mean, `Our song, this little cheap, tinkling, syncopated piece of rubbish is what we felt when we met.´ What they´re saying is, `That song reminds me of the tremendous feeling we had when we met.´ Some of the songs I use are great anyway, but the cheaper songs are still in the direct line of descent from David´s psalms. They´re saying, `Listen, the world isn´t quite like this, the world is better than this, there is love in it’, `There´s you and me in it,´or“The sun is shining in it.´ So-called dumb people, simple people, uneducated people, have as authentic and profound depth of feeling as the most educated on earth. And anyone who says different is a fascist”

Retaliation by STRAIN

This is one of my pre-game pump-up songs when I play Ultimate. I listen to the Here And Now album from Strain on my way to practice and/or scrimmages because I get a certain vibe from it. Does it make me more aggressive? Yes. Is positive aggressiveness one of the main aspects in playing competitive Ultimate? Most definitely.

Last season, I used to play the Suicide Season record from Bring Me The Horizon and Darkest Hour’s Undoing Ruin to get me in the mood before games. I guess that was due to the self-destructive tendencies in my life during that period that also somehow transferred to my game. But that’s over now. It’s straight up playing to win these days. Give everything. Always.

Just won German Nationals with my Open Masters team listening to a lot of Strain.

I love the album title. “Get Better”. It can be read in so many different ways, and to me it’s a statement that seems appropiate for a lot of people. We all have to cope with certain situations, conditions, feelings in our lives and we all feel the need to “get better” somehow. So this is for everybody who needs to heal in one way or another.
