So, I moved a little over a month ago and while I’ve installed myself just fine in the new neighborhood (Good bye to you “party kids” in Kreuzberg, and hello to you “working adults” in Schöneberg!) there are still a couple of issues I need to sort out. First and foremost, we don’t have Internet access in the new flat. Please don’t ask me why. Honestly, it is beyond me. Just yesterday one of these service technicians from the telephone company came by to activate our telephone line and after half an hour of checking wall sockets, distribution boxes and what not he left informing me that “This looks bad, man. Seems like the line is dead.” I should call the landlord and make him send somebody over to install a new telephone line for our flat. As I’ve got to know my share of landlords in Berlin in the last couple of years I’m almost certain that this ain’t gonna happen.
So today at work I did two things: First, I started reading blogs about cracking other people’s WiFi passwords. Second, I started reading blogs about life without Internet. Both to no avail. First, I’m not nerdy enough to do all the things necessary to hack someone’s WiFi. Second, all the people writing about life without Internet seem to be rich jerks like TheMinimalists.com who think it’s cool to try living a Spartan life (at least for a while).
